The Prey, beginnnig of the book
Since I finished my book "Cirque Du Freak" I started a new book called "The Prey". It's about a girl whose name is Rowan Smith. Rowan is a young girl with blond hair and blue-gray eyes. Rowan was a former FBI agent who retired after a murder that really got her upset. After she retired, she started writing books about murders. She had three books out (one was bring turned into a film) and one was being released in a couple weeks. Well, one day, Rowan heard that someone murdered a person described exactly the same as the person in her book, and the crime was committed exactly the same way as in the book. They even got it right down to where the lady lived, her name, etc. At the scene of the murder, there was a copy of Rowan's first novel with the description of the murder highlighted in it. Since this was happening, Rowan had to hire a body guard (though, she REALLY didn't want one, she thought she could take care of herself). The body guard's name was Michael who had an older brother named John working on a different case, and a younger sister name Tess who worked with him because she was good with computers. So, as the days pass more murders are committed (no one knows who the murderer is) and books are left at the scenes. One murder was close to her though because they murdered a family with the same description of the murder which was the reason she left the FBI, then the murderer sent her the pigtails of the little girl. Well, since Michael has been with Rowan for a while, he starts to fall in love with her, so he doesn't make her answer the questions they need to know. Tess gets worried about Michael because he has fallen in love on a case before and he ended up getting his heart broken, so she calls John for help. John told her she would be there after he was done his case which would be in a few days. Finally John finishes his case and comes to Rowan's house to help with the case and he finds that he might like Rowan too, but he can control his emotions and not let them get in the way of whats going on. When Rowan saw John she felt a weird feeling inside her, but she didn't want t like him, so she tried not to talk to him. Michael was not impressed that his brother was there because Tess and John accused him of falling in love to quickly, but he wouldn't admit he liked Rowan. I could visualize the sadness going on in this book. I couldn't imagine being Rowan and feeling so guilty about what was happening. I could picture the look on her face when opened the box and saw those two little pigtails lying there and then bursting out into tears. That would be so heartbreaking.

Crissy,
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you've gotten pretty far into this book (though I don't think you are done yet, right?) I can see how you feel sad and guilty for Rowan-- as you write, I start to feel that way, too. She should not have to feel guilty, should she?
I don't quite "get" who is in love with Rowan-- at first, I thought it was Michael but is John as well? I couldn't figure out if Rowan had a funny feeling with John around because she liked him back or if she felt uncomfortable around him (like she was scared of him or something).
Do you think you know who the killer is??
Well, Michael says he doesn't love her, but he does, and John says that there is something about Rowan that he likes, but he isn't sure what, and Rowan feels the same way about John, there is something about him, but she is not sure what, and she doesn't want to love any of them because she got hurt b another guy in a past relationship. I read more of the book and there was a boy named Adam who talked to a guy and it made Rowan upset and she thinks that the guy who talked to Adam is the killer.
