The Sea Of Monsters #4

When they were on their life raft they came to a small island and they when they got to shore a nice lady said that she would take them to C.C. When they were walking down the hall they heard a lovely noise and then they saw C.C. She said that Annabeth could go and get a make over from one of the workers, but Percy should stay with C.C. C.C said that Percy couldn't feel good about himself so she had him look in a mirror, then she showed him what he could be with her help, all he would have to do is drink some stuff that was sitting on a counter. Percy thought that it tasted like a strawberry smoothie so he drank it, but then, he shrunk down to a guinea pig and she put him in a cage with a bunch of other guinea pigs. When Annabeth came in C.C said she should stay on the island with her, and Annabeth asked for a moment alone. When C.C left Annabeth got the vitamins from Percy's pocket and took one, then C.C came in and Annabeth drew her sword to fight her. C.C couldn't do anything because Annabeth had taken the vitamins and then she poured them into the guinea pig cage and Percy came back to his normal self. They ran outside and got a a better boat and the sailed away. On their way, the came across some things called "Sirens". The Sirens would sing about your future and make people jump overboard to their death.

The Sea Of Monsters #3

After Annabeth, Percy, and Tyson went on the life raft they used Hermes thermos of winds to go as fast as they could to a secret hide out Annabeth new of. When they got to the island that the hide out was on, Percy told Tyson to go find some powered donuts so him and Annabeth could talk. A few minutes later Tyson came back with some donuts and Annabeth got scared because no one else was supposed to be on the island. Tyson took Annnabeth and Percy to the donuts shop. After they were done wondering, Percy turned around and a lizard with seven heads was right there and it could easily kill Percy. Percy drew Riptide and cut one of it's head off and two more heads grew in its place. Behind them Percy and Annabeth heard a familiar voice, so they turned around to find Clarisse. Clarisse captured them and brought them on her boat. The were at the sea of monsters and the engine on Clarisse's boat was going bad so Tyson went down to fix it. Percy didn't want him to, but he did. All of a sudden the ship blew up and Percy got knocked out. When Percy woke up he was on a life raft with Annabeth and she told him that Tyson didn't make it. No on knew where Clarisse was either.

The Sea Of Monsters #2

In "The Sea Of Monsters" after Annabeth, Percy, and Tyson got punished, Percy and Annabeth were going to ask Tantalus for permission to go on a quest. They wanted to do it at supper so he would have a hard time saying "no". So, supper came and Percy and Annabeth stood up and asked permission to go on a quest. Tantalus said that the cmap didn't need to be saved, but then everyone started chanting, "We need a quest! We need a quest!" so Tantalus said he would grant permission the winner to go a a quest. The winner was the champion of the chariot race, which was Clarisse. Percy and Annabeth didn't think that was fair because Grover was their friend and they are the ones who asked for a quest. Tantalus said it didn't matter and Clarisse would set off on a journey to the Sea Of Monsters to get the Golden Fleece and save the camp. That night Percy went out by the water and sat there drinking Coke, when a jogger came by and sat down and drank some Coke with him. It ended up being Hermes and he gave Percy a thermos of wind, which could send you somewhere using wind at a very high speed, some vitamins that could heal you or prevent you from being hurt, and three yellow duffel bags full of stuff like money and cloths and other important stuff. Hermes wanted them to go on the quest to save Luke, because you don't give up on family. Then Hermes jogged off and Annabeth and Tyson came down. There was a ship in the distance and even though they would get expelled for leaving Percy prayed to his father for help and some fish came and they hopped on the three fishes back and set off for the big ship in the distance.

When the got to the ship, the looked around being careful not to get caught, but there didn't seem to be anyone on the ship. So, they found a room that was empty and they all slept for the night. The next morning, Tyson said he smelled something bad and that means there is a monster around. They walked around and then Percy heard a familiar voice......it was Luke. Luke had tried to kill Percy before and he betrayed the gods to go on Kronos side. Then Luke saw the three of them and took them into a room. Percy told him why he was on the quest and Luke got mad at the sound of his father's name. Luke tried to persuade them to join Kronos side but it didn't work. Luke told his monster body guards to take them down in the bottom of the ship, but then the ran and hopped on a life boat and sailed away.

I could really visualize seeing Luke for the first time in a long time, and how hard it would have been to say "no" to joining Kronos side. Luke made it very hard to say "no". He said that the gods were using him, and some day Kronos would come alive again (because monsters could never die) and he made it sound very convincing. I can imagine the hate that filled Percy when he heard Luke's voice for the for the time since he tried to kill him. The book was written so well, I could really picture everything going on. It's really a good book.

"The Sea Of Monsters"

A new book I'm reading is "The Sea Of Monsters" which is the second book in "The Lightning Thief" series. It's about this boy and his name is Percy Jackson. He finds out that he is the son of Poseidon. Well, Zeus thought that Poseidon stole his master bolt, but gods can't steal from other gods, so Zeus was blaming Percy. Percy had to go on an adventure to fin the master bolt and return it to Zeus by the summer solstice, but that is only ten days away. Well, in the second book, Percy leaves camp for the winter and school is almost over and he hasn't had any trouble with any monsters....yet. On his last day of school there was going to be a dodge ball game with the whole school. All the tough kids were on one team and Percy, his friend Tyson, and a couple other kids who are afraid of the bullies are on another team. When some new kids turned out to be cannibalistic monsters Annabeth comes to save ercy and Tyson. Annabeth said there was trouble at Camp Half Blood and when they got there there were some bronze bulls that were attacking everyone. Percy and Tyson saved them from the bulls though. After that they went to go see Chiron and found out he was fired because someone poisoned Thailia's tree so the camp was being destroyed and Chiron took the blame. The new activities director's name is Tantalus and he is a mean, mean person. Tantalus put together a chariot race even though those were banned because of three deaths and many injuries. Over the time that this is all taking place Percy keeps having dreams about his friend Grover who left las summer to look for Pan and his dreams are about Grover and a Cyclops wants to marry him because he thinks he is a cyclops, but when he finds out he is a satyr he will eat him. During the race some evil birds come in and start pecking at people and Annabeth, Percy and Tyson (who is actually a Cyclops) save the camp. Clarisse won the race in the meantime. Tantalus got mad at them and said it was their fault the birds came (even though it wasn't) and they got punished. This relates to the world because there are a lot of people out there who have to deal with people like Tantalus and Clarisse and they might not all know how to handle them. But Percy Annabeth, and Tyson somehow figure out a way to keep their cool. I think that would take a lot of patience because Tantslus is a nasty guy and I would have used my powers to hurt him. But, I don't have their patience.

I wonder why........

I wonder why Percy doesn't freak out at Tantalus. Tantalus is so mean, nasty, and unfair to Percy. When Percy and Annabeth saved the day, Tantalus punished them for messing up the race, even though it wasn't their fault. Also, Grover is Percy and Annabeth's friend, they should go on the quest to save him and the camp, but just because he doesn't like Percy, he is going to let Clarisse. If I were Percy and my friend was in trouble and asked him for a quest, then he gave it to someone I hate, I would at that point, use my powers to hurt Tantalus. I would do that because if my best friend were in trouble and the person who I hate went on the quest, how could I know that she is going to save them. Percy doesn't know if Clarisse is going to save Grover, for all he knows she is going to save the camp and get her name to be big, she doesn't care about Grover, but that's one of the main reasons Percy wants to go. I would have made sure that Tantalus was badly hurt and couldn't move if I were Percy. Another thing I wonder about, is why they let Tantalus in the camp in the first place. Yes, I know that Chiron was fired, but there are plenty of other creatures that could be the activities director. Tantalus organized a chariot race, even though they were banned because of deaths. Also, when the birds attacked the camp and ruin the race Tantalus blamed it on Percy and Annabeth saying that if they hadn't disrupted the race with their bad driving, the birds wouldn't have came, but they would have. So Annabeth and Percy got punished and they have to clean dishes with lava (they clean it with lava because it gets 99.9% of germs off it). So, if I were Percy, I would beat Tantalus up using my magical powers.

The Prey

In "The Prey", there is this boy named Adam who is a little challenged and his parents left him, so Rowan "took him under her wing", so Rowan is like his best friend. At a rehearsal Adam tried to play a prank and ended up scaring someone there, and a guard named Barry got mad at him and he told Adam that Rowan was mad at him. Adam didn't want Rowan to be mad at him, and he had seen Barry get his girlfriend flowers when she was mad at him, so she wouldn't be mad anymore, so Adam thought he would get Rowan some flowers. Adam took one of the company's vehicles and was driving down the road and saw a flower stand set up. He stopped there and was going to get her roses, until a stranger with sunglasses came up and said lilies were better flowers to get for a friend. Adam got the lilies and when Rowan saw them she freaked out and knocked them away. Adam felt sad and John talked to a guy that found some files about Rowan and found out that Rowan's name used to be Lily, but no one was supposed to know that. John thought that Adam had talked to the killer so he went to the flower stand with Adam and got some information on the guy who talked to Adam. One night after the opening of her movie, John told Michael to take the night off so he could get some information out of Rowan. John got Rowan to tell him all about her past, and even John felt bad for her. When Rowan was only ten, things happened in her family, and her mom ended up getting killed by her dad, her brother Bobby, killed Rowan's three sisters and her dad. One of Rowan's sisters who died ended up being Dani, the person who Rowan had been having nightmares about.

I predict that the later in the book there will be a lot of more deaths and then Rowan will come face to face with the killer. I think that after she sees the killer she will recognize him and it will be someone she least expects. I think that the killer is Roger (her "dad" after her real mom and dad died) I think its him because she has his trust, and she always takes his advice, and she would never suspect him. Also, Rowan didn't want him to adopt her, but she wanted him to be her dad, so I think that he might try to get back at her for not letting him adopt her.

Why I chose my books

The two books I was reading was "Cirque Du Freak- The Vampires Assistant", the second book in the series (which I finished) and "The Prey". I chose "Cirque Du Freak" because last year we had to do a book report and I couldn't find a book so Mr. Lepauloue suggested "Cirque Du Freak" (the first one). I read that and I liked it so I wanted to read the second one. So, I did. It was really good and I'm glad I read it. I chose "The Prey" because my mom had it and she told me it was a murder mystery and I like those kind of books. I read the cover and there was a line on it that said, "This killer likes it when they run" and that sounded interesting to me. It's a good book so far.

The Prey, beginnnig of the book

Since I finished my book "Cirque Du Freak" I started a new book called "The Prey". It's about a girl whose name is Rowan Smith. Rowan is a young girl with blond hair and blue-gray eyes. Rowan was a former FBI agent who retired after a murder that really got her upset. After she retired, she started writing books about murders. She had three books out (one was bring turned into a film) and one was being released in a couple weeks. Well, one day, Rowan heard that someone murdered a person described exactly the same as the person in her book, and the crime was committed exactly the same way as in the book. They even got it right down to where the lady lived, her name, etc. At the scene of the murder, there was a copy of Rowan's first novel with the description of the murder highlighted in it. Since this was happening, Rowan had to hire a body guard (though, she REALLY didn't want one, she thought she could take care of herself). The body guard's name was Michael who had an older brother named John working on a different case, and a younger sister name Tess who worked with him because she was good with computers. So, as the days pass more murders are committed (no one knows who the murderer is) and books are left at the scenes. One murder was close to her though because they murdered a family with the same description of the murder which was the reason she left the FBI, then the murderer sent her the pigtails of the little girl. Well, since Michael has been with Rowan for a while, he starts to fall in love with her, so he doesn't make her answer the questions they need to know. Tess gets worried about Michael because he has fallen in love on a case before and he ended up getting his heart broken, so she calls John for help. John told her she would be there after he was done his case which would be in a few days. Finally John finishes his case and comes to Rowan's house to help with the case and he finds that he might like Rowan too, but he can control his emotions and not let them get in the way of whats going on. When Rowan saw John she felt a weird feeling inside her, but she didn't want t like him, so she tried not to talk to him. Michael was not impressed that his brother was there because Tess and John accused him of falling in love to quickly, but he wouldn't admit he liked Rowan. I could visualize the sadness going on in this book. I couldn't imagine being Rowan and feeling so guilty about what was happening. I could picture the look on her face when opened the box and saw those two little pigtails lying there and then bursting out into tears. That would be so heartbreaking.

Summary of "Cirque Du Freak"

I just finished the book "Cirque Du Freak- The Vampires Assistant" which is the second book in the "Cirque Du Freak" series. I thought the book was really good and I can't wait to read the next books. There are some things that you need to know that happen in the first book.
In the first book there is a boy named Darren Shan and he has a best friend named Steve Leonard who gets tickets to see a freak show. When they go, Steve recognizes one of the performers (Mr. Crepsley) who turns out to be a vampire. Steve asked Mr. Crepsley to turn him into a vampire, but they found out Steve's blood was evil, and well, that was the end of that. But while they were there, Darren stole Mr. Crepsley's spider and it bit Steve. To save Steve, Darren went to Mr. Crepsley who was willing to help Steve if Darren would become a half vampire and be Mr. Crepsley's assistant. Darren said okay and they were off into the world of vampires together.
Well, in this book, Darren and Mr. Crepsley had spent about two months together. Darren didn't like to drink human blood since he was half human but he could only go so long only drinking animal blood, so he needed human blood, or he would die. Darren could walk around during the day since he was half human, but Mr. Crepsley had to sleep during the day since he was a full vampire, so Darren spent many lonely days all by himself. When Darren shared this with Mr. Crepsley, Mr. Crepsley got a bright idea, "Why don't we go back to the Cirque and you can have friends that are more like you, then, you won't have to be so lonely!" So they did that and it worked, Darren made three new friends, Evra Von who was a snake boy, Sam Grest, who was human, and R.V who was a nature freak (his name is Reggie, but he is a vegetarian so people called him Reggie Veggie, but he didn't like that so he likes to be called R.V). The whole time they were at the Cirque Darren was getting so weak he was so close to dying from lack of human blood. Sam wanted to join the Cirque so Darren asked Mr. Crepsley if he could and Mr. Crepsley said he could if he could turn him into a half vampire too. Darren didn't want that to happen to Sam so he made up a lie to scare Sam away. Well, there is a performer, the wolf man and he is half wolf and half man. The wolf man is very dangerous and will eat you so the Cirque has to keep him in a cage. Well, when R.V found out about this, he wasn't happy because he believed it should be free. So, one night during a performance, Darren saw a shadow near the wolf man's cage and it was R.V. trying to free the wolf man. He didn't get it all the way before the wolf man bit both of his arms off, so R.V. ran into the woods and Darren didn't see him for the rest of the book. Well, the wolf man got the chains off the rest of the way by himself and was after someone. Darren found their bag on the ground and it belonged to Sam! The wolf man was after Sam! Darren ran after them to help Sam. When he found Sam they hid from the wolf man. The wolf man knocked Darren out and was about to eat eat until Sam came and tried to fight him off. When Darren woke up he looked over and the wolf man was eating Sam. Mr. Crepsley came and knocked the wolf man out, but there was nothing he could do to save Sam. Mr. Crepsly told Darren that when someone was about to die, a vampire could drink their blood and kill them (before they died from the other thing) and that would keep part of them with the vampire. So, Darren drank Sam's blood until he died and then they buried him. The Cirque had to go on their way but Darren would never forget his best friend.
This relates to me because I have made sacrifices for friends like Darren did for Steve and like Sam did for Darren. Also, I have made wrong choices that made stuff happen that I wish didn't, just like Darren accepted to be Mr. Crepsley's assistant, but that caused him to lose his family and friends.
This book might seem like one of those corny kids books, but its really not. Its a really good book for kids about our age. I recommend this book to anybody because it was really good and interesting.
